Good morning neighbors! You found us here at Fulmore and we are ready to roll and rock. This blogging class is a beginner’s look into blogging and what it can do for the classroom. Make sure you can check your school email (webmail.austinisd.org) for an email I sent you last night and one that you will send yourself in just a bit.
For now, feel free to look around this site (blog) and come up with questions that you will want to ask before the day is up. If you do have a question, click the ‘comments’ link just below this post and add your question.
I will also be referencing classroomblogging.wordpress.com as a resource throughout the day. Feel free to explore that site as well.
My last workshop preview site that I’ll suggest is mrmartinsclass.blogspot.com . I used this one in a fifth grade classroom and it might give you food for thought before we get started.
Again, welcome and I’m glad you are here!
It’s August 7th and I’m hoping people checked their email during the last few weeks. I tried to send out enough advance notice about the change of venue so that I didn’t lose anyone in the cross-town transfer. If you are here, the Welcome! If you aren’t here, then your missing out.
Anyway, welcome to ‘Blogging in the Classroom’. If you get here early, feel free to follow any of the links on this page. But first, I am asking that each participant click the ‘comment’ link below and write something about yourself. Maybe this will be a great way for you to connect to other teachers who are also curious about blogging in their classroom this year. Read their entries and feel free to make a new connection or ask a question.
After posting, if you still have time to slay, feel free to visit a couple of blogs that I use or have used. The first blog I used with students can be found at http://mrmartinsclass.blogspot.com. It still has authentic student comments. Another is the blog I write every week to help teachers in their classroom blogging environment. Please visit http://classroomblogging.wordpress.com .
I hope you find today’s training valuable. Please let me know at the end of the day. Now, try out the commenting feature by clicking “Comments” just below this paragraph.
Great morning! Hopefully I’m standing somewhere nearby and everybody was able to find the lab here at Travis Heights. While we wait for the workshop to get started, go ahead and read this post and leave a comment for us. It will be helpful for us all.
The first thing I’d like you to post is your first name and what grade/subjects you teach. It helps with the trainer’s perspective and in building our blogger’s learning community. Secondly, in the same comment, would you briefly share a fantastic experience you once had in the classroom? I think it’s important to remember these events and also to share them with the new teachers facing classroom wedding-night jitters.

Welcome to this AISD IT training on using blogs in the classroom. Your instructor will be starting the session shortly, but for now, read this post and leave at least one comment.
We will soon discuss uses for blogs in the classroom in this workshop. But for now, would you please introduce yourself to our class today. Perhaps you could tell us why you were interested in this workshop and how you think you will use blogging in the upcoming year. Feel free to respond to anyone’s comments and click on other links on this page.
Peace, your instructor
This post is here to give you the illusion that this is a working classroom blog. See, most people won’t read this or realize that it’s even down here. They’ll just scan the page and think, “Wow, there is a bunch of stuff on this page,” and skip it. It’s really okay since this is just supposed to be taking up space anyway.
However, if you got here early and have already commented on something on the top post, feel free to comment here as well. Read any good books lately? Know a good joke? Seen a good movie? Aw, come on and share. ![]()
